Education Foundation 5K Raises $7,000 for District 31

5K Race - District 31The District 31 Education Foundation raised over $7,000 in its first 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, October 4, at Techny Prairie Park and Field in Northbrook. Approximately 250 runners of all ages participated in the 5K and 1 Mile events. Proceeds earned from the fundraiser will benefit students in District 31 by providing teacher grants for special programs.

 

First place medals were presented to the top female runner and the top male runner. Meredith Berrs, age 34, of Arlington Heights was the overall race winner with a time of 20:09. The fastest male runner was Ben Snare, age 27, of Palatine with a time of 20:21.

 

Medals were also presented to the fastest male and female 5K winners in each age group category including: Billy Loggarakis (31:32) and Alexa Ball (27:14) in the age 11 and under category; Jacob Spitz (24:00) and Gina Boffa (34:03) in the age 12-19 category; Jon Pokora (25:23) and Beth Magnuson 22:12)  in the age 20-29 category; David Harris (27:47)  and Jessica Blair (22:19)  in the age 30-39 category; David Mahler (20:24) and Cheryl Roberts (22:46) in the age 40-49 category; Steve Gartner (24:31) and Ann Aldrich (39:25) in the age 50-59 category; and Ward Aldrich (34:06) and Myrna Tucker (51:45) in the age 60 and over category.

 

In the 1 Mile Family Fun Run, Noah Berkowitz, age 12, came in first with a time of 7:47. The second place winner was George Arvanitis, age 11, with a time of 7:51. The third place winner was Aaron Berkowitz, age 9, with a time of 8:22.
