Field was opened in 1965 and a new fine arts wing was added in 1991. The school features more than 20 classrooms, two gymnasiums, a learning center, a dining/commons area, a technology education classroom, a family and consumer science classroom, two computer laboratories, an auditorium, a music room, an art room and a band room. The District 31 WeatherNet system, donated by the Parent Teacher Club, is installed at Field and streams live local weather data and a video view of changing weather conditions through a link on the District 31 website's home page. |
Field Middle School is a 2007 Illinois Horizon School: School to Watch, recognized by the Association of Middle-Level Schools (AIMS) and National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform. Field is also a National Service Learning Leader School and was recognized with a Blue Ribbon Award in 1999-2000. The school serves approximately 350 sixth through eighth grade students.
