School year 2019-2020 marks the beginning of Cathy Lauria's tenth year with West Northfield School District 31, serving in the capacity of Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations. Prior to District 31, Mrs. Lauria was the payroll Supervisor at Township High School District 214 (THSD). Previous to THSD 214, she worked in various capacities at Arlington Heights School District 25, including a literacy, special education and 1:1 assistant over an eight year period followed by four years of managing the payroll department.
As the Business Official, Mrs. Lauria is responsible for managing the financial and business aspects of the District as well as operations and maintenance. Her duties include the following: developing and managing the budget, obtaining funding with the majority of resources coming from the levy process, local, state and federal reporting, overseeing payroll, insurance, receipts and disbursements, managing the operations of the District and working with various vendors and organizations to obtain products and services. She and her husband grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago and moved their family to Arlington Heights 29 years ago. They have four grown children, three of whom are married.
Cathy Lauria's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Science in Education Administration, with a School Business Management major, both from Northern Illinois University. Completion of this degree included a Type 75 administrative certificate and a Chief School Business Official Designation.
