In 2010, Mr. Alvarez began his teaching career as an 8th grade Science teacher at Richmond Middle School in Richmond Nippersink District 2. In 2012, he earned a position as an 8th grade Science teacher at Sundling Junior High in Palatine District 15 and, in 2014, he earned the same position in Long Grove Kildeer-Countryside District 96 where he and his colleagues led students to win the Illinois State Science Olympiad Championship and the National Junior School of the Year for Energy Achievement. During his three years in District 96, Mr. Alvarez took on leadership opportunities by becoming an Instructional Technology Coach (K-5). While in this role, he guided teacher instruction through the use of technology and provided students with the opportunity to learn through the use of various technology tools and programs. He also served as the Science Professional Learning Community facilitator and managed the day-to-day activities during summer school for biliteracy students. Mr. Alvarez is passionate about integrating technology into the student curriculum while at the same time providing students with real-world experience to prepare themselves for the future.
Prior to the start of his career in education, Mr. Alvarez earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from DePaul University in 2006. In 2010, Mr. Alvarez earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity International University and in 2017 earned his Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership.
