• The Board of Education shall conduct regular meetings on a Tuesday or a Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted beginning at 7:00 p.m. and held in the Learning Center of Field School, 2055 Landwehr Road, Northbrook, Illinois or Per Covid-19 Executive Order No. 5 the District 31 Board Meeting will be held electronically.  A link for public viewing/participation will be posted on the website prior to the Board of Education Meeting.

    Visitor Participation at Board of Education Meetings
    The Board of Education and Superintendent encourage District 31 parents and community members to attend regular meetings of the Board of Education to see, first hand, how financial and policy related decisions are made.

    “Recognition of Audience” is a formal agenda item that occurs at the beginning and end of each regular open meeting of the Board of Education. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for audience member views to be expressed during open session on matters relating directly to the District. Matters brought to the Board must have first been discussed with the Superintendent. 

    Per Board Policy Number: 2:019, the Board may be addressed by visitors during “Recognition of Audience” and when recognized by the Board President.  The visitor wishing to address the Board shall identify him/herself (first and last name and organization represented if any) and limit his/her comments to 3 minutes.  The visitor shall observe the Board President’s decision to shorten public comment and/or to determine procedural matters regarding public participation not otherwise covered in Board policy.  If more than three minutes are needed for a visitor to address the Board, the visitor needs to meet with the Superintendent and submit a completed Visitor Participation Statement    to him/her at least one week prior to the scheduled Board meeting.

    During “Recognition of Audience”, Board members shall not engage in a discussion with the visitor nor provide an opinion until its members have had an opportunity to discuss the topic as a Board at a later time; however, Board members may ask questions for clarification and additional information.  If appropriate, the visitor will receive a response from an administrator following the meeting as soon as possible.
