Visitor and Emergency Procedures
At District 31, our highest priority is the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors. To ensure a safe and welcoming environment, we have established the following visitor and emergency procedures:
Visitor Procedures
-
Visitor Check-In: Upon arrival, all visitors must check in at the school or district office. A valid photo ID is required to receive a visitor badge. During school hours, all visitors to District 31 are screened for sex offender status through the Raptor system.
-
Limited Access: Visitors are only allowed in designated areas for specific purposes. Unauthorized access to classrooms or other parts of the school is prohibited.
-
Appointments Encouraged: To help us prepare for your visit, we encourage scheduling appointments in advance whenever possible.
ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Procedures
District 31 is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all families. The following protocols will be followed in the event of an ICE inquiry or presence:
-
Immediate Notification: School and District administrators will be immediately informed if ICE agents arrive or contact the school.
-
Verification of Documentation: ICE agents must present proper legal documentation, which the district administration will review in consultation with legal counsel.
-
Student Safety: Under no circumstances will a student be released to ICE agents without explicit legal authorization. The district will prioritize the well-being and safety of students in every situation.
-
Family Communication: Parents or guardians will be notified promptly in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.
We appreciate your cooperation in following these procedures to ensure a safe and secure school environment for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the main office of your child’s school.
Update Emergency Contact Information
District 31 strongly urges families to update their emergency contact information with their school. Up-to-date information can be helpful if a parent or guardian cannot be reached. Please contact your school office to ensure your student's emergency contact information is up-to-date.
