Mindful Moments: A Monthly Guide for Families
Growing Gratitude Together
As the leaves change, November invites us to slow down and notice what we're thankful for. Gratitude helps kids build perspective, resilience, and joy in everyday life. This month, we're excited to share ways to help your child grow a grateful mindset and attitude.
Gratitude Journal
Recycle an old notebook lying around, and turn it into a gratitude journal! A few times a week, your child can draw, write, or reflect on things they feel grateful for. It doesn't have to be perfect or forced, but it's a great way to encourage more grateful thinking!
Daily Dinner Chat
Dinner (or any meal of the day) is an opportunity to slow down, check in, and connect. Each day, build the routine of asking “what
is one thing you’re grateful for from today?”. This simple act can reframe our thinking and push us to seek positivity throughout the day.
Kindness Coupons: A Fun Craft Idea!
- Create “kindness coupons” to give to others
- ex. “One big hug”,
- “Helping with chores”,
- or “a compliment ”
- Give them to family members and friends as kind acts
A Check-In For You!
(You Deserve to Hear It)
Gratitude isn't just for the kids. It’s just as important for you!
- Have I paused to appreciate myself as a parent lately?
- What’s one small thing that brought me peace, comfort, or joy today?
- When was the last time I said “ thank you” to myself? For showing up? Being present? Trying?
Coping Skills Corner
Joy Journal Breaks
Try this activity when your child is feeling upset or dysregulated. Try taking a short break to draw, jot down, or talk about one thing that made them happy that day. By focusing on something positive, it can help your child with grounding and gratitude.
