Glenbrook North Student Association Fundraisers to Benefit Storm Victims

December 2024

Dear Families of Northbrook and Glenview,

In late September, many areas around Asheville, North Carolina, were struck by Helene's storms. Buncombe County School District specifically lost over 450 homes, schools were shut down, and families lost loved ones. The school district has over 22,000 students and 3,800 staff members. They were lost without any direction of
how or when they would be able to return to normality. Being displaced for well over a month, students just recently have been allowed back to school, and staff is doing their best to work with limited supplies, but the high school experience doesn’t look or feel the same.

The Glenbrook North Student Association was able to make a connection with Buncombe County School District and offer our support. We were asked if we could direct our efforts to support Charles D. Owen High School. We continue to learn more about the school and hope to help support them through the coming months of recovery.

From December 7th through the 14th, we ask that the Glenbrook North Community come together to raise as much as we can to help bring Owen High School back to life. Our student leaders have put together two community events in hopes of raising over $10,000. 100% of all money raised will go to help with supplies and rebuilding of classrooms. Below are ways we can “show up” to support the Owen Warhorses of Black Mountain, North Carolina.
