NSSRA – Inclusion Services
The Park District partners with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) to offer recreation programs and services to residents of all abilities. NSSRA support staff is available to work alongside program participants, assisting with special needs and behavior. Participants requesting support should check the ADA box on the registration form. If you are registering online, call Nancy Eschker at 847-291-2995 to discuss your camper’s needs and request additional support.

Camp Groups
Camp groups are formed by age/grade and school. Friendship requests are not available.

Lunch Program
Families have the option of ordering lunches for campers through Kiddos Catering. In May, camp families will receive details about the program including menu choices and ordering instructions. Some camps may not participate in the Kiddos Catering program.

ePACT
Summer camps use ePACT as a secure emergency network used to collect medical and emergency contact information electronically. ePACT replaces paper forms and ensures we have a way to communicate with you in the event of any changes to the program, an illness, injury or larger scale emergency. Families will receive an invitation to complete their member record using the email address on file.

Residency
Some Village of Northbrook residents are not residents of the Northbrook Park District. Non- residents are charged a slightly higher fee. Campers who attend Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 or West Northfield School District 31 and are considered non-residents by Northbrook Park District are eligible for resident rates for 2024 summer camp at respective school sites.

Waitlists
If the camp you want is full, we encourage you to place your child on a waitlist (one per child per week/session). If space becomes available, waitlist participants will be contacted. Payment is required within 24 hours of this notification to confirm enrollment.

Transfers
We recognize that some campers may need to change their enrollment due to scheduling conflicts or desire to try another camp. Transfer requests will be granted only if the desired program has openings.

Payment Plan
Payment plans are available for all camps. Register at nbparks.org/summercamps to utilize the payment plan. If the available payment plan does not meet your needs, call 847-291-2993. All balances must be paid in full before the start of the program.

Scholarships
Participants who meet the criteria can receive financial assistance towards recreation programs and memberships. Applicants only need to qualify once per calendar year. Contact Melanie Alexander at 847-291-2995 or malexander@nbparks.org for an application form or to learn more about the scholarship program.

Refunds/Withdrawal Fees
All refunds are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the program cost.

Are You Covered?
The Northbrook Park District does not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants as the cost would make program fees prohibitive. Participants should review their personal health insurance plan to be sure you and your family have proper coverage. The absence of coverage does not make the Park District automatically responsible for payment of medical expenses. In addition, certain higher-risk activities require a separate waiver which must be signed before the first session.

Extended Camp Care
Extend the fun before or after camp with Extended Care! Children will enjoy a nut-free snack each day and take part in planned activities including arts and crafts projects, outdoor field games, board games, and gym games based on a weekly theme.

Adventure Campus Sites and Times
District #31 Winkelman 2:40pm–6pm

Choosing Your Child’s Schedule
You must choose a consistent schedule for your child. For example, if you only need childcare three days a week, your days must be the same for each week your child is enrolled. So, if you select Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for your three-day-a-week option, it must be those three days every week of the program. Adventure Campus is only open to students who are attending one of the schools listed above.

New Schedule Changes
Requests to increase the number of days per week your child is attending are dependent upon the availability at your child’s Adventure Campus site. Requests to decrease the number of attendance days will not be granted until after winter break. While you may choose not to send your child to the program, payments will not be adjusted. If a schedule request is accepted, future fees will be adjusted, refunds will not be given. If you are reducing your child’s schedule you will be charged a $25 service fee per child, per transaction. Refunds will not be given, any difference will automatically be applied to your following month’s payment.

School Day-Off Activities
When students have full-days off of school, the Park District has several programming options available for an additional fee. Visit nbparks.org/adventure campus for more information.

No Program Days
Adventure Campus follows the school district calendar for each location along with emergency closures. Adventure Campus will not be in session and no alternate programming will be available on the following dates:

Frequently Asked Questions
How are staff trained?
All staff go through extensive training prior to beginning the school year. Training topics include safety, child accountability, supervision, first aid, bullying, appropriate discipline, emergency situations, behavior management and customer service. All staff attend an annual Risk Management training and are CPR and AED certified. All staff are required to attend trainings throughout the school year. Adventure Campus staff are also mandated reporters and trained in concussion recognition.

What snacks do you offer?
Adventure Campus sites are nut-free environments. Examples of snacks offered at the program include fresh fruit and vegetables, applesauce, yogurt, fruit snacks, crackers, string cheese, freeze-dried fruit and fruit cups. Children may bring nut-free snacks from home.

What if my child won’t be attending for the day?
If your child will be absent, you must contact both the school and Adventure Campus. Adventure Campus can be contacted by the site phone number and email that will be provided to you in August. You can also notify the site in person in regard to a future absence (i.e. my child will not be attending this Friday, they will be taking the bus home). We do not prorate for missed days.

Can someone else pick up my child?
All authorized pick-up names must be listed on your child’s ePACT profile, our electronic software program that replaces paper forms. We cannot accept verbal authorization. However, written authorization from the parent/guardian is accepted using any of the following methods: handwritten note, email or text message. The authorized pick-up person must present a photo ID at the time of pick-up. We will not release a child to a person that is not designated as a pick- up person.

What if my child has an allergy or needs medication?
Parents must fill out the Permission to Dispense Medication Form and/or the Allergy Action Plan within their ePACT profile. Once the information is received, the parent will provide the Site Director with medication, which will be kept on-site in a medication lock box. Adventure Campus must have their own supply of a child’s medication. Due to the unique program hours, medication from the school is not available to Adventure Campus.
