Phoenix Tagal Wins Field Middle School Inaugural Spelling Bee
Phoenix Tagal won Field Middle School’s Inaugural Spelling Bee on January 31 in the Field Middle School Auditorium spelling the final word “fiendishly”. Phoenix was one of 12 students who qualified for the Spelling Bee.
Phoenix will move on to the North Cook Regional Qualifier-Your North Cook Spelling Bee on March 13 at Lincoln Hall Middle School in Lincolnwood. The top three contestants from the North Cook Regional Qualifier Spelling Bee will represent North Cook County at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 26 at E.F. Lindop School in Broadview.
The Field Middle School Spelling Bee participants were Saima Islam, Grace Kang, Amirah Kutty, Hafsa Makda, Phoenix Tagal, Nathan Park, Deen Qureshi, Summer Kang, Rachel Ly, Amin Nazrishoev, Anisha Sukhlecha, and James Vadakkumchery. The event was organized by Mrs. Gandhi (8th grade Math teacher), Dr. Kazkondu (6th Multilingual teacher), and Mrs. Kim (8th grade ELA teacher).
The 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee will take place the week of Memorial Day 2024 at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The competition schedule will be available May 1, 2024 at spellingbee.com.
