Field Parent Notes

Illinois Assessment of Readiness and the Illinois Science Assessment
Field students will take the Illinois Assessment for Readiness (IAR) April 8, 9 and 11. Students in 8th grade will also complete the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) on April 17 and 18. These are the state-mandated assessments that are used for accountability purposes for all public school districts in Illinois.

The IAR is a computer-based assessment designed to measure mastery of the Illinois Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics for all 3rd through 8th grade students. The ISA is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and it is only given to 5th and 8th grade students.

Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. Though totality will not be visible in our area, we will be able to view 93% coverage of the sun at 2:07pm, coming close to the full experience. District 31 students will participate in various educational activities related to the solar eclipse on this day to support students' understanding of this rare astronomical event.

As previously communicated, we have purchased all students NASA-approved solar eclipse viewing glasses. Students MUST wear the protective eyewear provided by the school during the eclipse timeframe.

This weekend, we ask that you also speak with your child about the importance of keeping their eclipse glasses on at all times while outdoors during the eclipse timeframe.

Reminder: No School on Wednesday, April 10

Attention 8th grade parents and guardians!

Please let us know if you would be interested in joining a parent committee to plan the graduation celebration breakfast at Field. This event will take place on June 4. The breakfast celebration will be from 8:45-9:15 a.m. at Field, and graduation is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at GBS. We hope to get a group of parents or guardians to continue this tradition for our graduating Tigers!  Please call or email Dr. Miller at 847-313-4451 or if you would like to be on this committee.
