Dear Winkelman Families,
This was a full and joyful week at Winkelman! This morning, we kicked off the day with High Five Friday alongside the Glenview Fire Department and Glenview Police Department. There’s nothing better than starting the day with smiles, high fives, and the strong community partnerships that support our students.
Our students are also buzzing with excitement for the Glow Party tonight - it’s always such a fun way to celebrate together.
We’re looking ahead to next week as well! Our 4th and 5th graders will take the stage for their Spring Concert on Thursday, March 5th. We can’t wait to see their hard work shine and to welcome our families for an evening of music and celebration.
Just a quick reminder, when dropping off your students during morning arrival in the carline, both doors are open for students to enter. This helps the traffic flow.
Please read the information below carefully, as it contains important updates and reminders for the weeks ahead.
Wishing everyone a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
Sincerely,
Samantha Eiseman, Principal
Erin Kranz, Assistant Principal
Lisa Schaffer, Assistant Principal

D31 Climate and Culture Parent Survey
Our Family Feedback Survey closes March 10. If you haven’t yet participated, please take a few minutes to share your experience—your voice matters and helps shape our schools. Take the survey here: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/district31il/8368014134/surveys
This shorter survey replaces the traditional Illinois 5Essentials parent survey and focuses on school climate, supportive learning environments, and school–family communication. It also offers expanded translation options so every family’s voice can be heard. All responses are confidential.
Your input helps guide our continuous improvement efforts and supports high-quality learning for every student. Thank you for your partnership and thoughtful feedback.
Student Climate and Culture Survey - Students in grades fourth and fifth will also participate in a similar survey about their school experience, including whether they feel connected and included, and whether they feel supported and challenged in their learning. Student responses are anonymous. If you prefer that your child not participate, please contact Samantha Eiseman, Principal seiseman@district31.net

Winkelman News Worth Repeating
Transportation Reminder:
If your child has a change in dismissal plans, please contact both the office and your child’s teacher. Teachers are instructing throughout the day and may not see emails before dismissal. We’ve had situations where only the teacher was notified and the message was missed. To ensure a safe and smooth dismissal, the office must be informed of all transportation changes.
Calling the attendance hotline:
Call 847-729-5650 - Press 5 to report any student absences to our attendance line before 8:00 a.m. Please speak clearly when leaving a message and include the student's name and grade, your name and relation to the student, and the reason for the absence.
Sickness/Fevers:
Thank you for all that you do to help us ensure that our school is safe, happy, and healthy environment for all of our community members. We would like to share this important reminder of the following strategies to keep children, staff, and volunteers healthy:
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Stay home when sick until fevers, vomiting, or diarrhea are gone for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medications) and until symptoms have improved.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper shirt sleeve and dispose of tissues properly. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid close contact, including kissing or shaking hands, or sharing items such as utensils or cups. Avoid contact with sick people, especially if an infant (6 months old or less) or an adult with medical conditions.

Safety Reminder:
If your child arrives late to school, a parent or guardian must come into the office to sign them in. We’ve had many students dropped off without an adult, and we need your help ensuring all students enter the building safely. Additionally, if you are visiting the school to volunteer or attend a meeting, please remember to bring identification to sign in. Thank you for helping us keep Winkelman safe.
