Student Service Supports During Adaptive Pause
Student Service Supports
In our recent Board meeting, it was determined that our District would take an adaptive pause, and return to remote learning. However, our Board members asked Dr. Janine Gruhn, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, to determine if there would be a way to serve the students with greatest needs. Based on this information, Dr. Gruhn worked with her teams and determined the following services can be implemented as in-person options:
Resource/Check In (Appointment Only):
Request Resource/Check In Appointment
Students receiving resource services will be provided with the opportunity to sign up for check ins with a resource teacher to do the following:
- Homework help
- Organization/Executive function
- Test Prep
- Reinforcement of Skills
Instructional Classes or Students Receiving Intensive Instructional Services:
Students receiving services in instructional classes or most of their time in a special education classrooms or receiving pull out services will receive in-person services using the revised schedule below. (Students qualifying for this will be identified by the special education teachers and parents will be contacted by their case manager).
- Winkelman: 7:50-11:00, beginning Monday, November 30 and Field: 8:30-11:30 beginning on Monday, November 16
- Students will focus on Reading, Writing and Math
- Students will have lunch at home
- Students will participate in remote learning in the afternoon that includes asynchronous activities for science and social studies, co-curriculars/specials and/or related services.
All students receiving special education support have an identified learning plan. This plan includes services for remote learning, goals, accommodations and the student’s individualized plan for support. This remote learning plan was included in your child’s IEP. If you have any questions regarding this plan, please contact your child’s case manager or reach out to Dr. Janine Gruhn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
****PLEASE NOTE: This plan will continue to be monitored and is contingent on the safety guidelines provided by the Cook County Department of Health, Governor, and District procedures and protocols.
