Dear District 31 Community,

Last night, the District held the official reorganization meeting of the Board of Education where we welcomed new and returning elected Board of Education Members Meredith Estes, Laura Greenberg, Jeffrey Steres, and Dr. Allison Slade Rothstein. The four members were sworn in and will serve the District for the next four years. Dr. Slade will serve as Board of Education President succeeding Melissa Valentinas, who diligently served as Board of Education President for the past two years. Thank you to Board Member Valentinas for her hard work and leadership! Laura Greenberg and Daphne Frank will continue their service as Vice President and Secretary. We greatly appreciate all our Board of Education Members and their commitment to the community!

End of School Technology Return
All student assigned technology devices (iPads, chromebooks, wireless hotspots) are expected to be returned to the school buildings at the conclusion of this current school year.  All devices must be returned with their corresponding electrical chargers and carry bags, if applicable.  Devices that are not working, damaged beyond the scope of accidental, or lost, will be subject to repair or replacement fees. Please watch for future communications regarding the days and times devices will be collected.

Parent Education Series: Enough with the Consequences by Dr. Ross Greene
Through a community partnership with CATCH and a number of other local school districts, District 31 is excited to provide an opportunity for District families to participate in a presentation with Dr. Ross Greene next week on Tuesday, May 4 at 7 p.m.  Enough with the Consequences by Dr. Greene, a best-selling author and psychologist, will teach all of us a more peaceful approach to interacting with our kids. Book Stroll
District 31 has once again partnered with the Northbrook Public Library to bring another Book Stroll to Winkelman! The book "Rescuing Mrs. Birdley" by Aaron Reynolds is a funny story geared towards K-3, though all students can enjoy the stroll. Pages are placed on yard signs and installed outside door B by the picnic tables. The pages are placed to allow for social distancing. Remote students and families are welcome to join the book stroll at any time!

Remote Instruction Request
Per ISBE, remote instruction will continue to be offered for students who have a medical need (or live with someone high risk). This risk/need must be documented by a doctor note. In order to help District 31 determine how to plan for any remote instruction, we are asking families that intend to request remote instruction for the 2021 - 2022 school year to fill out this form by May 6. Please note that the doctor’s note is NOT needed by May 6. However, when we contact you, we will walk you through what is needed and the timeline.  Thank you for your help as we plan for next year.

2021 - 2022 Registration
The school registration process for next school year is underway. We encourage all of our families to register as soon as possible, as it assists with planning and preparation. Registration fees can be paid at a later date if needed.  Also, any bus registration needs to be done by July 1. Please note that next year, per IDPH/CCDPH guidelines, there may be up to 50 students on a specific route. Learn more at
