PTO Spring Fling, Board of Ed Calendar, Vaccine Clinic Info, Remote Instruction Request, Registration, Climate Action Plan, and Upcoming Events

May 7, 2021

Dear District 31 Community,

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful week of celebration! This week we celebrated our teachers and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. We also recognized Exceptional Children’s Week with a Facebook Campaign put together by the Field Kindness Club. The Field Track Team had a wonderful week of competition (View Track Photos). The Education Foundation celebrated our families with the fun event “Walk the School” (View Walk the School Photos). And today, the PTO put together a Spring Fling for all Field and Winkelman families, which will be a wonderful way to end such a fantastic week.

PTO Spring Fling - TODAY
Join us today at Winkelman from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. for a pop-up book fair, book signing with Ms. Chlebek, chalk art photo ops, Wishing Well Donuts (who is giving back 20%!), spirit wear, and [drum roll please] the chance to throw a pie at select teachers and staff!  This is one spring fling you won't want to miss!

The Board of Education Meeting Calendar for regularly scheduled 2021 - 2022 meetings is now available here

Vaccine Clinic Information
Earlier this week, the District sent out information from School District 225 about a vaccine clinic. Though the District 225 vaccine clinic is full, District 31 is currently working with several community partners to explore the possibility of offering vaccines on site at Winkelman or Field for our middle school students and parents. The District will send out information to our families as soon as we confirm any information.

LAST CALL!  Remote Instruction Request
Per ISBE, remote instruction will continue to be offered for students who have a medical need (or live with someone high risk). This risk/need must be documented by a doctor note. In order to help District 31 determine how to plan for any remote instruction, we are asking families that intend to request remote instruction for the 2021 - 2022 school year to fill out this form by Monday, May 10 at 5 p.m. Please note that the doctor’s note is NOT needed by May 6. However, when we contact you, we will walk you through what is needed and the timeline.  Thank you for your help as we plan for next year.

2021 - 2022 Registration
The school registration process for next school year is underway. We encourage all of our families to register as soon as possible, as it assists with planning and preparation. Registration fees can be paid at a later date if needed.  Also, any bus registration needs to be done by July 1. Please note that next year, per IDPH/CCDPH guidelines, there may be up to 50 students on a specific route. Learn more at

Climate Action Plan
As part of the Climate Action Planning Team, the District would like your review and input of the Draft Northbrook Climate Action Plan, which aims to achieve a 35% reduction from baseline levels of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The plan aims to reach this goal through actions such as improvements to building efficiency, active transportation access, increasing tree canopy coverage, and more. Please use the webpage here to provide feedback on each section of the Draft Climate Action Plan. The public comment period closes June 21.
