The PTO Welcomes You to the 2021 - 2022 School Year!

The District 31 PTO Welcomes You to the 2021–2022 School Year!

The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is excited to welcome everyone back to school! Read on to learn more about what the PTO does, how you can be involved, and upcoming events.

Mission of the PTO
To support District 31 by building community and enhancing education to benefit students, families, teachers, administration, and all community members.

Programs and Services
The PTO supports a wide variety of events in a typical year such as family recreation nights, undernighters, Taste of 31/Culture Night, art enrichment, Farewell to 5th, 8th grade graduation reception, teacher appreciation week, Project Reach, and many, many more. These programs are supported by fundraisers including the book fair, spirit wear drive, and school supply kit sales.

Get Involved
There are so many ways to be involved! Room parents communicate upcoming events to class families, help plan class parties, create year-end teacher gifts, and much more. General volunteers have the opportunity to chair or staff events. Art enrichment volunteers periodically teach art lessons and lead art projects for their class. PTO members interested in any of these can email or contact Michelle Moore ( directly about art enrichment. (Details below.)

Winkelman Art Enrichment Volunteers Needed
Art Enrichment is a fun, non-academic PTO program at Winkelman that gives our children more exposure to legendary artists and their renowned masterpieces. This program provides an excellent opportunity for parents to get involved in their child’s classroom while providing an educational and fun experience for the students as well.
What’s involved?

● Visit your child’s class 5 times between October and April (only 3 times for kindergarten levels) to present an artist and his/her artwork.
● Work with the teacher to coordinate presentation dates and times that are convenient for all involved.
● Read about a pre-determined art piece (all information is provided).
● Have fun with projects in the classroom with the students.
Don’t have experience with art? Not a problem! Most parent volunteers have no prior knowledge about the paintings or artists. We provide you with all the tools, information, and supplies to present an art piece in the classroom.
