Dear District 31 Families,
We stayed very busy this four day week! Among our typical learning activities, we also continued our Red Said mental health campaign at Field and enjoyed a virtual author visit for Read Aloud IL Day at Winkelman. Please continue to follow us on our Facebook page where we share photos of our adventures!
If you have not already, please turn in all medical forms as soon as possible. Students who have not turned in all required health records by the end of the school day on Friday, October 15 may not return to school beginning Monday, October 18 until all required forms have been received by the school nurse. Strategic Planning Spotlight
Over the last several weeks we have shared with you the mission, vision and values of District 31’s strategic plan. This week we are highlighting our portrait of a graduate. What does a District 31 graduate look like? What qualities do we wish to instill in our students during their time in our schools? Below are the values and characteristics we wish to see demonstrated by our students when our vision is fully achieved:
- Critical Thinkers
- Problem Solvers
- Effective Communicators
- Responsible Global Citizens
- Curious Life-long Learners

Parent Education Videos and Presentation
The District houses a series of Parent Education Videos and Presentations on our website at www.district31.net/parenteducation. These videos cover a variety of topics from Skyward tutorials to Student Services information. View the latest video with Erin Kranz, an instructional coach at True North, on Inclusion Practices.
Curriculum and Instruction Update
District 31 is fortunate to have curriculum coordinators in the areas of ELA, math, social studies and science, as well as an instructional technology coordinator. These leaders work together with teachers and teams to collaboratively support consistent curriculum and instructional best practice. This is achieved through ongoing, high-quality professional learning and resource coordination. In order to support the goals of the new strategic plan, the coordinators will be assisting teams with implementing a new common planning tool. Look for more information about this in the spring!
