COVID Vaccine Clinics, Battle of the Books, Parent Education, Curriculum and Instruction Update, Directory Spot, COVID-19 Update, Sub Recruitment, and Upcoming Events
November 5, 2021
Dear District 31 Community,
I am excited to share that Winkelman Wildcats (and our under 12 Field Tigers) are already receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine! (Pictured: Simon Laven, Grade 6; Owen Laven, Grade 2; and Eliot Laven, Grade 4.) We would love to celebrate and share your vaccination pictures on our Facebook page! Please send photos to email@example.com.
Students are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their SECOND shot. We ask that families send a picture/copy of the vaccine card after the second shot to the school nurse. Once students are two weeks past their second shot, they will no longer participate in the weekly Shield Illinois COVID-19 testing.
Opportunities are already available at Walgreens or CVS by appointment. There are also vaccine clinics that will be available. Information regarding a Northfield Township vaccine clinic for ages 5-11 was sent yesterday. The registration link for this clinic will be sent tomorrow, Saturday, November 6 at noon. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed friend to this clinic as stuffed animal vaccine shots will be given as well! Please watch for the email and sign up as soon as possible to guarantee a spot. An additional clinic at Winkelman will be available on Monday, November 22. More details about the Winkelman clinic, including the sign-up link, will be communicated next week.
Remember to “fall back” an hour this Sunday for daylight savings! Have a wonderful weekend.
Dr. Erin K. Murphy
Superintendent of Schools

Curriculum and Instruction Update
Field's ELA classrooms incorporate word study, independent reading, and thematic-based units to teach students reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language standards. You may have noticed your middle schooler studying Greek and Latin root words, which is part of our word study program, or looking for an independent reading book to bring to class daily. When thinking about ways to support your child at home, consider helping them study and use their knowledge of Greek and Latin roots to talk about the meaning of words, or reading together and discussing a book as a family!
PTO Directory Spot
The PTO's updated Directory Spot is available! Directory Spot is an app you can download on your tablet or smartphone that includes contact information for all district families (names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails). Directory Spot can also be accessed from your computer at www.directoryspot.net. Access to Directory Spot is an exclusive benefit of PTO membership.
If you would like information changed or removed from the Directory or if you have paid for a PTO membership, but do not have access to Directory Spot, please email Whitney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
