December 17, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We wish all of our Field families a safe and joyful winter break!

A few school-wide programs will be administered shortly after we return from winter break.  Below are the descriptions for each program.

Erin’s Law
Erin’s Law is a state law requiring that all public schools implement a sexual abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades K-12. In response to Erin’s Law, Field students will be presented a program, scheduled on Thursday, January 10, with Mr. Victor Pacini and he will present, “Empowering Children to Be Seen and Heard.” His website, www.victorpacini.com/ states that the overall goal of this Erin’s Law Program for Schools is to “create a safe and engaging environment where children will learn about the dangers of abuse and the difference between safe and unsafe touching.” These presentations are designed to empower and educate children in a developmentally and appropriate child-friendly manor. For additional information about Erin’s Law, please visit www.erinslaw.org. If you have any questions and/or do NOT want your child to participate in this program, please contact, Dr. April Miller, Principal, Field Middle School (amiller@district31.net / 847-313-4451) or Justin Cooper, Assistant Principal, Field Middle School (jcooper@district31.net/847-313-4448) prior to the program date. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this program.

Physical and Health Education
Every year students in grades 6th-8th receive health education through physical education classes. The program stresses the importance of responsible personal decision making and selecting a healthy lifestyle. This year we are working with health educators from Candor Health to provide the sex education component of the health curriculum to all grades. Please click this link for more information on the upcoming lessons on January 13 and 14.
